MCBESS

McBess or Matthieu Bessudo is an illustrator and director in Kassel, Germany, he has a peculiar style and a singular point of view.
He was born in 1984, in Cannes. From the beginning he was attracted to music and he took guitar and drum lessons.
In 2002 he enrolled in Supinfocom, a multimedia school in Arles. There he studied 3D animation for four years , so he started to develop his peculiar style, at this time more colourful and less structurated. He chooses his nickname “McBess” to be different the others Matthiews of the class.


In 2006, after working in different web illustration sites like Eatpoo and Cafesale, McBess graduates in Sufinfocom with a short film called “Sigg Jones”, the tale of the story of a battle star and his agent, in 3D.
After his graduation, McBess and his friends Douglas Lassance and Jonathan Vuille min enrolled in The Mill, a London special effects enterprise which won an Oscar.
The “new” McBess was born in that periode combining caricatures like Betty Boop and Merrie Melodies with an asimetrical vision and a lot of musical and surrealistic elements.
From 2007 McBess has been published on important magazines like Juxtapoz, Ilustrated Ape and Hi-Fructose, he is also near to Rotopol Press, an enterprise which prints his designs and which organised his first exhibition in May 2008.
McBess plays in a music band called “Dead Pirates” and he has created the videoclip for the song “Wood”.
In the field of illustration he started the group “Salle Polyvalente”, with different designers and he participated in the blog “Naked Gladiators”.
